Information about the villa

In this house, with architectural details of great value, Bernardo Lama, one of the most famous sacred fresco painters of the 1700s, lived and worked for many years. It is located in the old centre of the town of Praiano, close to the principle church of Saint Luke Evangelist which still conserves the splendid works that Lama painted and frescoed. Villa Amanda still retains the atmosphere and feeling which was necessary for the creative genius of its famous resident. The villa is immersed in green and overlooks scenery of extraordinary beauty. The historical centre of town with its little paths and stairways surrounds the residence and there is a grocery shop and a bus stop which connects with the beach and the commercial centre of Praiano ; it is also possible to reach everything on foot. There is paid car parking close to the property and it is near the main road. The interior of the villa is well furnished and conserves sumptuously decorated frescoed ceilings and architectural details which are typical of 17th century homes and never cease to marvel lovers of this era. There are a few ‘modern touches' to the home, such as, the swimming pool for the enjoyment of young and old alike. The property is close to the traffic-free piazza which is a meeting place and playground for many children of the town as well as a quiet refuge for young lovers seeking sanctuary from their parents. The house is equipped with every modern comfort. There is ADSL internet service , television, air conditioning and all appliance are modern.

Reviews of Villa Amanda

“This villa has amazing views and is a tranquil place! It was nice to get away & have a peaceful place to enjoy. We loved spending time in the pool and taking in the views! The only thing I would caution is there are over 70 steps up to the door from the street where the main grocery store is located. This villa is not located in the heart of Praiano it is in the upper area near the church.”

Villa Amanda is truly amazing. The views from the two terraces and the roof do not disappoint. The pool is a great relief from the summer heat, and it is very kid friendly (the pool terrace has a separate gate) if you are traveling with children. The interiors are minimal, but you have everything you need. The bedrooms are on two floors, and the photos do not do the smaller upstairs bedroom justice. It is small, but opens on to a huge roof top that makes it feel much larger. The bathrooms are what you expect in Italy. Downstairs has only a hand held shower, and upstairs is small. Mr. Luigi was there to help us check in and helped with our bags, which was appreciated. If you are traveling with small children, or have trouble climbing many, many stairs, this villa may not be right for you. The closest grocery (Tutto per Tutti) is the best in town, but you still have over a 50 steps to get there! There are some fantastic restaurants near by, but the Main Street is quite far down the hill. I would love to come back to this villa. Praiano is still a small Italian town, where people say buongiorno on the street and most of the people you come across are locals, not tourists. It's also very easy to get to Positano if you want a beach day, as the beaches in Praiano are very small and basic by comparison. If you're looking for a sanctuary away from the Amalfi craziness, this town and villa will be a prefect location for a relaxing vacation!

The house was incredible - beautiful, comfortable, and exactly as pictured / described. An incredibly romantic villa in a superbly picturesque small town on the coast. I'd recommend Praiano (over positano or amalfi) to anyone coming to visit and we will almost certainly be booking Maria's villa again, and bringing a crowd!

Villa Amanda was the perfect jumping point for our 5-day stay on the Amalfi Coast. The pool, views and space of this villa was fantastic. It was a bit of a trek from the nearest street to park a car but there are fabulous restaurants and mini-markets within walking distance. The only warning is that this house only has 3 beds including the pull-out sofa. It is able to sleep 6 but is ideally only for 4 people. I would easily recommend.
